Not Enough… My ideal…

Not Enough…

       My ideal…

Shiela M. Coderis

Dreamer…

      Leaders should be dreamers.

Dreams that can make us better.

Dreamers pave the way to success

And should not be for our burdens.

Intelligent…

      Leaders should have working minds.

Minds that set aside their personal intentions behind.

Minds thinking for the welfare of all,

And not for their own goal.

Trustworthy…

      Leaders should be trusted,

For it will mark a great foundation,

      Of a long lasting position.

Worker…

      Dreams are nothing without force,

      Intelligence is useless without work,

Trust without efforts is never gained,

      So leaders must be workers…themselves!

Though there are many adjectives,

I just came up with these four.

Maybe I just can’t find the right words,

To describe this ideal I am looking for.

Perhaps he/she doesn’t exist,

Or maybe not yet born…

Just a Just

Just a Just

Jezza F. Blastique

He weighs everything fairly,

And judges not lopsidedly;

He observes both sides correctly,

And quite fair, really.

He is just then he is responsible,

‘Coz “I will do my part” is the way he thinks

Yet he never tolerates his members’ laziness

Instead he ushers them to work with eagerness.

He possesses authority

And can summon with ease.

He doesn’t have to be steel-handed

‘Coz in his righteous ways, they are pleased.

He is just then he is truthful,

‘Coz he perpetually reveals the truth.

He doesn’t want to hide reality,

An act of being fair to everybody.

A man who is lawful,

Who complies to every rule and order.

Like his men in rules he follows,

      does not abuse his power

A character of a good leader.

The epitome of my ideal leader

Is one who is fair, just.

‘Coz a person with this conduct,

Is the one who deserves to last.

A Minute of Silence

A Minute of Silence

                                                   Melanie P. Aldeon

Terrorism – one of the world’s biggest problems. What is it really? How do we know if such doing is an act of terrorism?

The following acts constitute terrorism. (According to a bill proposed by a certain senator way back in 2003)

              1. Causing or attempting or threatening to cause the wanton destruction or loss of lives, liberties or properties through any means with the intent of sowing terror to the public, changing or impeding the operation of public utilities. or disturbing public peace and order whether internationally or domestically, or in the advancement of ideological, political, religious, ethnc, or cultist belief, or any form of belief espousing any cause or purpose.

              2. Using or attempting or threatening to use force with the aid of weapons, such as, but not limited to, biological or chemical agents, bombs or explosives, nuclear devices, firearms, poisonous substances, or any other kind of weapons of mass destruction with any of the intentions mentioned in paragraph 1.

              3. Assassinating or attempting or threatening to assassinate any national leader or any internationally protected individual with the end in view of obtaining any of the ends stated in paragraph 1.

Let us remember the tragedy happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

If you still can’t believe the horrifying scenes of 9/11, please observe a moment of silence for the 5,000 estimated civilian lives lost in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania attacks.

After doing so, let’s have 13 minutes of silence for the 130,000 Iraqi civilians killed in 1991 by order of Pres. Bush Sr. have another moment to remember how Americans cheered in the streets because of this.

Then, another 20 mnutes of silence for the 200,000 Iranians klled by Iraqi soldiers using weapons and money provided to a young Saddam Hussein by the Am,erican government before the great eagle turned all its power against Iraq.

Another 15 minutes of silence for the Russians and 150,000 Afghans killed by Taliban troops who were supported and trained by the CIA.

Plus 10 minutes of silence for 100,000 Japanese killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the atomic bombs dropped by the USA during WWII.

We;ve just kept quiet for one hour: one minute for the Americans killed in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania , 59 minutes for their victims throughout the world.

If you are still  in shock, let us remember the war between Vietnam and America. Take another hour of silence for all those killed during this time.

Do you remember the massacre in panama in 1989? American troops attacked poor villagers, leaving 20,000 Panamanians homeless and thousands more dead.

The millions of children who have died because of the USA embargoes on Iraq and Cuba.

Someone may remember the USA attack on Baghdad where 18,000 civilians were killed. Did someone see it on CNN? Was there justice?

Now, let’s talk about terrorism, shall we?

Public Leaders- Private Lives- Public Doubts

February 12, 2007 : Monday

Public Leaders- Private Lives- Public Doubts

 Kristine Rosales

Whenever something potentially embarrassing is revealed about a public person’s private life, two connected questions inescapably follow. The first is whether the thing that is revealed by itself disqualifies that person from continuing to do their job. The second, regardless of the moral rights or wrongs, is whether the revelation is politically survivable.

But one’s imperfections need not preclude a person from public service and leadership.

Still we can’t blame people from questioning the acts done by these leaders…

Leadership has become a “hot” topic in the church and in commerce. Why is so much being said about leadership these days?

A man who isn’t thirsty doesn’t think about water, but a man in a desert will think of nothing else. A man whose car starts when he turns the key won’t think about his battery, but a man whose car doesn’t start will be focused on it.

In life we think and talk about things lacking. We don’t spend much time on that which is working well, but that which is not. We don’t fix things not broken. So much is being said about leadership today because it’s broken. We are in a leadership crisis-there simply are not enough strong leaders to go around.

So having leadership crisis is an enough ground for us to intervene their lives? Realistically, yes we should be… because we are in doubt of their accountability.

The need for those who govern to be accountable to the governed often conflicts with the right of an individual, albeit a public leader, to privacy. Most believe job performance can be affected by what goes on in private lives, but most don’t believe scrutiny of private matters is a media responsibility and find such coverage excessive and unfair. Belief in importance of accountability was related to support for media’s responsibility to provide scrutiny, but not to concern with excessiveness and fairness.

So for these leaders to prevent people from continue monitoring their lives in private… they should be morally upright with integrity and credibility.

Public leadership, in whatever form, is demanding due to the enormous and complex responsibilities involved. A public leader must therefore be upright, consistent, responsible, and accountable for results in order to offer valuable services to his society.

Ironically, some of our political leaders have not measured up to these qualities, hence have not performed well in office. Their actions and inactions have often reflected a commitment for personal gains rather than promoting the economic development of the country. In exercise of their duties, they have failed to set good examples of honesty and truthfulness, and thus, betrayed the confidence bestowed upon them before assuming civil positions.

Responsive leadership deals with the affairs and welfare of the society. For this reason, our political leaders must bear in mind that they are accountable to the public in their decision-making. Though, for a public leader to be responsible, he must have the liberty to exercise powers conferred on him for the execution of his duties; this freedom must be guided by equity and fairness to avoid its misuse against the citizenry. Regrettably, some of our political leaders have acted outside this norm, and consequently allowed their actions to impact negatively on public good. Decision-making is no longer governed by objectivity, transparency and accountability. We can see this in the way and manner some of them have misused state funds for projects that do not benefit the public but to satisfy the whims and caprices of few individuals.

It is important to emphasize that we cannot move forward as a nation unless there is a deliberate and concerted effort on the part of our leaders to see themselves accountable for their actions and inactions and implement policies that seek the welfare of the citizenry.

We are a nation in want; lacking basic infrastructure for economic development. Our education, health, energy, road, agriculture, and other social sectors need improvement. Our schools (from primary to tertiary institutions) require modern learning materials and tools; hospitals must be adequately equipped; our roads need improvement to reduce accidents and road fatalities; and alternative power generation are among the many basic social needs calling for urgent attention in Philippines today.

To be able to meet these needs, our political leaders must learn to make sacrifices, and put in place realistic development measures to improve the living conditions of the deprived. They must see themselves as owing Filipinos a collective responsibility to implement programs that contribute to the economic development of the country. This is absolutely necessary because responsive leadership is all about achieving results for public good.

leader

Claudette Limjoco

A leader for me is someone who is very committed to his duties and
responsiblities and to his country just like a priest with the church and
its relationship to its followers. A person who is flexible which means
he’s able to do anything and knows a lot of things. some one who will
do his best to fulfill his duties and be of great help to everyone. He
should be strong enough to stand the problems and hardships that he will
encounter.

MY IDEAL LEADER

MY IDEAL LEADER

Josephine Lucero

My ideal leader might not be a perfect leader for you. A leader for me must be someone who acts for the good of his/her people.

He/she must possess these 3 important characteristics of my ideal leader:

  1. Principled

Man with principle that will firmly be on side of truth and justice. He/she must not be influenced and controlled with those abusers and selfish government officials. And will serve in accordance of righteousness and will able to lead without any touch of selfishness.

  1. Responsible

A work committed leader.

  1. Versatile

Being versatile is not only in about field flexibility but also about establishing openness with different views whether it is good or bad. Knowing even a little bit on different matters, fields, issues, etc. will be a big help for someone aspiring to be a good leader to easily acquire credibility and authority.

And simply a leader that will act and lead in accordance of justice and truth and be dedicated to work hard for the good of many.

A leader is someone that empowers those working for him to make their own decisions. A leader is someone who gives clear, direct orders, a take charge person that commands his employees.

But above all, there’s no such an ideal leader in this world. But I still believe that to be an ideal leader he must first know himself and understand the basic things about humanity.

The God the Leader the Commander

The God the Leader the Commander

Gerald Mesina

We always wanted to have a perfect leader, a ideal one that would bring a vehement storm that would swipe away all the problems that a country is facing, an ideal leader that would be perfect and not susceptible to the body of corruption. But come to think of it we may be looking for a God which is a superior in his field and an ideal perfect body to serve and give us a light but in reality we may be looking for the wrong key……………………………………………..

But how can we say that the person that we are looking for is a god?

A god that we cannot find in the body of human

Or we are looking for a commander

…………………………………………

But not a leader

These are the list of my ideal leader:

Honesty

An honest leader, one honest leader will tell everything to the people on which he governs. Honesty is one quality that a leader should possess in order for him to have a clean administration. This will show the people that he is truly dedicated to his work and this will encourage people to cooperate with the government to achieve a progress in the economy and in the political system of the country.

Versatile

A person who knows how to use many of the instruments that we need to play in order for us to gain development. A leader who’s a little bit of so many things would be a brilliant leader because he is able to adapt in how the world moves.

Disciplined

A discipline leader would not abuse his power and he will only follow the will of the human law. If a man is discipline knows what his limitations are and he will not impair the rights of his constituents

Just

A man knows how to judge and balance his judgments.

A man who knows what is justice is.
